The Devil's Candy (2017) has to be one of my all time favorite satanic rock n roll film of all times! This film is dark, stark, atmospheric but at the same time it delivers a lot of dark humors. It is like going on an adventure ride for horror buff like myself! I got on and never wanted to get off of it!
The film surrounds an alternative family starring Ethan Embry (dad) which I did not even recognize until after I saw the credits, his transformation in this film is just "that" good! Shiri Appleby stars as the mom; and I was so excited to see her in something new as I was a big fan of her's when she was in Roswell (okay, I know that series is kind of melodramatic but then I was a teenager!). And a new comer named Kiara Glasco. Also Pruitt Taylor Vince starring as the mentally disturbed child killer Ray.
They move into a new closed out home, and of course it used to belong to Ray's family who died in it. So he gets sent to the mental asylum, and the house is sold to this new family. Ray gets released and started to harass the family. Meanwhile, Jesse (Embry) as the struggling artist is experiencing some satanic disturbances in the house and slowly losing his mind. But I am not going to spoil the movie for you guys, if you haven't seen it. Go see it now! This is a satisfying fun ride for all horror buffs out there.
5/5
Fantastic! A horror fan's dream.
